Datuk Dr. Khairul ‘Azmi Mohamad comes from a diverse background and is well known in the fields of law, Syariah, and politics for his professional and scholarly contributions. Within these circles, he is recognised as a thinker and strategist. He began his career as a legal academic, later assuming strategic leadership roles at both state and federal levels. He has also been entrusted by the government to serve on the boards of several institutions.

In the realm of strategic management, he has been extensively involved in ground mapping, conducting reality assessments, and designing strategies to achieve specific objectives. He has led general coordination and operational command centers, ensuring that goals are feasible, attainable, and measurable. Additionally, he has been actively engaged in human resource development, designing and implementing training programs aimed at producing targeted outcomes.

In the field of Islamic law, he has substantial knowledge of Usul al-Fiqh, Maqasid al-Shariah, and Siyasah Syar’iyyah. His work in the legal field spans a wide range of areas, including sentencing with regard to aggravating and mitigating factors of punishment; international law, particularly in relation to accession to ICERD; the Federal Constitution and international treaties; cyberlaw; and comparative legal systems.

He has authored more than 70 academic works, including books, book chapters, journal articles, and conference papers. His research expertise spans across law and Islamic law; politics, Islamic politics, and governance; political psychology; strategic

management and training; as well as policy-related areas.

He completed his LL.B (Hons), M.C.L., and LL.M in the Administration of Islamic Law. He later studied and was awarded a doctoral degree, graduating with excellence. He is also a qualified advocate and solicitor of the Malaysian Bar.

In legal practice, his interests include legislative advisory and drafting, constitutional law and legal systems, as well as administrative and public law. He brings a unique perspective to these areas through his expertise in Islamic legal principles.
